OGC Nice offer unhappy Man Utd winger escape route

Ligue1 side OGC Nice are interested in signing unhappy Manchester United winger Memphis Depay, the Liverpool Echo reports. The Dutch winger has been struggling with game time under José Mourinho so far this season and is looking for a new club to play with more consistency.

OGC Nice are among a host of clubs that are keeping a close eye on the 22-year-old as Roma, Milan and Liverpool are also said to be monitoring the player’s situation.

Depay is definitely going to leave the Old Trafford in January, either on loan or on a permanent deal. As for Serie A clubs Roma and Milan, they’d be unable to match any transfer fee imposed by Manchester United given that the Red Devils signed Depay for € 34 million in summer 2015 and do not want to sell Depay on the cheap.

Nice, however, are also not as financially strong to sign the player on a permanent deal and would only propose Manchester United a loan move or a free transfer which the Red Devils, however, are not willing to accept. The current Ligue1 table leaders signed Mario Balotelli from Liverpool last summer and that was the only way they could sign a striker with such a big salary, but are now dreaming of having a new striker partnership composed by the Dutchman and the former Liverpool flop.
