OPINION: Inter’s style of play has finally improved

Inter held third-ranked AS Roma to a 1-1 draw in an Olimpico showdown yesterday night, putting an end to the Giallorossi’s eight-game winning streak.

The Nerazzurri are still involved in the ace to qualify to Champions League, even if they are still five points behind Luciano Spalletti’s side and Fiorentina could leapfrog them in fourth place, should Paulo Sousa win against Frosinone today.

However, there is no shadow of a doubt that Inter’s style of play has improved a lot, especially compared to the very beginning of the season, when Inter were the table leaders, but their style was everything but convincing.

The Olimpico draw is definitely a better result for AS Roma, even if the Capitolines were not the best team on the pitch. The only bad news for Roberto Mancini is coming from January signing Eder. The Brazilian-born striker with Italian passport is still struggling to settle in well and yesterday night he showed one more time a tendency to disappear from games.

Roberto Mancini has also finally found the right system and probably the right men. Samir Handanovic, Ivan Perisic, Joao Miranda and Marcelo Brozovic are now irreplaceable and Inter can still dream of a Champions League placement.
