Outlining the Man Utd players on Inter’s agenda

Manchester United boss José Mourinho is planning to offload several players in the January transfer window and with Serie A giants Inter that are in desperate need to get some reinforcements to snatch a Champions League spot at the end of the season, Il Corriere dello Sport claims that there could be several players that the nerazzurri will try to get from their old boss.

Matteo Darmian tops Stefano Pioli’s shortlist. The Italian fullback was on Inter’s agenda also during Frank De Boer’s short spell at the club and the arrival of Pioli has not reduced the interest of the Serie A giants for the former Torino star.

Defender duo Chris Smalling and Daley Blind are also on Inter’s sights. Both players are struggling to put down convincing performances and many top defenders have been linked with a move to the Old Trafford as José Mourinho is looking for a top class defence partner for Erik Bailly.

Memphis Depay, who netted a brace in Holland’s 3-1 win over Luxemburg is a target of the Serie A giants, but the Netherlands International has plenty of admirers around Europe and Inter will have to beat off competition of AC Milan, Everton and AS Roma.

Suning are open to spend big money to reinforce Inter and get their season target, but new Inter owners also need to make a profit of € 40 million selling some of their players if they are to avoid a punishment by UEFA for breaching of FFP rules.

Registering a loss within € 10 million would lead to a fine of € 7 million, but if Inter lose more than that amount, then they could face exclusion from European competitions next season, making investments for potential new signings useless.
