Paper talk: Conte’s Chelsea future revealed, Immobile contract for life

Antonio Conte’s Chelsea are not in the form of their lives having failed to win the last two successive games. The Blues are the leaders of their Champions League group but sit 5th in the table. The Premier League champions are set to face Watford at the Stamford Bridge this coming week-end but the incoming Premier League clash is not going to be a decisive one for the future of Conte in South West London.

Gab Marcotti writes on Il Corriere dello Sport that Chelsea executives are happy with Conte because he took the responsibility for the latest home draw against Roma. The Italian blamed his choices for the stalemate against the Italians and club’s executives believes Conte made the right choice to defend the team and blame himself.

His future, however, remains up in the air. Many thinks this will be the last season of Conte in charge of the Premier League giants.

Conte could leave Chelsea at the end of the season or would be sacked if he fails to reach the targets identified by the club at the beginning of the season. The two parties are not going to split before the end of the season, according to Il Corriere dello Sport.
Meantime in Italy Ciro Immobile is blazing a trail with 15 goals in 12 appearances in all competitions.

Lazio will offer the Italian a contract extension until 2023 (when the player will be 33) and Lotito is also going to offer his star striker an improved salary that will be raised to € 2.5 million-a-year plus add-ons.

The new contract will be valid starting from next summer and the two parties won’t take long to find an agreement. Immobile is ready to sign a contract for life with Lazio.
