Player profile: Serie B starlet Morosini, one of Inter’s January targets

Leonardo Morosini is having a superb start to the season in Serie B having netted four goals in the opening five games with Cristian Brocchi’s side Brescia.

Morosini scored a brace in today’s 3-0 win over Serie B leaders Cittadella: the first one was a top class finish with the header, the second one the end of a perfect counter attack action.

Born in the Province of Bergamo on the 13th of October 1995, Morosini starts playing football in his childhood entering Inter’s youth but moved to Brescia when he was just eight. A pure, old-style attacking midfielder, Morosini is a talented right-footed footballer, with amazing vision and good dribble skills.

“I’d say Wesley Sneijder is my role model”, Morosini recently told Il Corriere dello Sport.

“He was winning games with his skills. My idol, however, has always been Roberto Baggio, now I like Saponara, but I can play either as attacking midfielder or support striker.”

Morosini was close to joining Inter last summer, when the nerazzurri tried to sign him and leave it on loan at Brescia. Ausilio, however, couldn’t finalize the deal even if the nerazzurri will try to sign him in January  or, at least, try to get a first-option clause.

“I am happy for having stayed here, but I am ambitious and there is no player that doesn’t want to play in a big club”, Morosini also told Il Corriere dello Sport.

“I support Inter since when I was a child and when I was at the club I used to go to the stadium becoming a ball boy in the years when Mourinho and Mancini were in charge.”

“I saw the best Inter playing close to me, they used to win one trophy after the other and I hope this will be the decisive year of my career. I might return to the San Siro to watch some games, we’ll see the rest in the future.”
