Despite many reports about Mourinho's farewell blocking a possible deal that would bring Paul Pogba to Juventus, the hypothesis is still quite alive. According to The Sun, Pogba said this about Mourinho in the locker room after learning of the sacking: "He thought he could make fun of me and make the fans turn against me. He joked with the wrong player."

Michael Carrick, who was appointed temporarily after Mourinho's departure and the appointment of Solskjaer, immediately reacted to this comment making it clear that no player or manager is bigger than the club and that the management is ready to get rid of the players who do not meet the required standards, with Juventus lurking in the background looking to take advantage.
