Premier League: Tottenham 4-1 Liverpool : post match report and player ratings

It was a shambolic display of football from Liverpool as they dropped points again in the English Premier league. Harry Kane produced a brilliant performance against the scousers and showed us why he is world class. Tottenham scored two goals early on in the first half as Mo Salah then got one back. However, just before the first half ended, Dele Alli scored the third Spurs goal to seal the three points for Tottenham. Harry Kane then added another in the second half as it was a great performance by the Spurs. Klopp and his team are still struggling with their defensive issues and this definitely means Liverpool are out of the title race.

Liverpool started well as they usually do however Kane came up with a brilliant finish to give Tottenham the lead. It was bad defending by Lovren as he tried to play the offside trap and Mignolet came off his line too quick. It got worse for Liverpool as in the 12th minute of play, Tottenham made it two and it was Son this time. It was a brilliant counter attack which started with Hugo Lloris and Kane.

Salah got one back for Liverpool and there was hope for the reds faithful. It came from Henderson who delivered a strong pass to Salah who finished it off.

There was hope but Alli finished the game off moments later by scoring a third. It came from a free kick. Liverpool’s worst nightmare. Harry Kane’s second goal also came from Liverpool’s bad defending display as they couldn’t clear the ball out of a dangerous zone. Liverpool’s next game is against Huddersfield. They will be desperate for three points but the question is: what do they want to achieve this season? This remains to be seen...
