Pressure increases on Montella after another AC Milan setback

AC Milan have endured a torrid recent run of form, and it’s said to be casting real doubt over Vincenzo Montella’s future at the club.

The Rossoneri were held to a goalless draw by AEK Athens in the Europa League on Thursday, and they have now won just one of their last seven games while they’ve failed to score in five of those outings.

In turn, the pressure is rising on Montella to get results as they continue to slip further adrift of their rivals for a Champions League qualification spot in Serie A, with the gap currently standing at 12 points.

As per Tuttosport’s front-page on Friday, they suggest that ‘Montella trembles’ as he remains at high risk to be sacked with the poor results continuing.

Milan face Sassuolo on Sunday night ahead of the international break, and although CEO Marco Fassone and sporting director Massimiliano Mirabelli have remained resolute in their support of the Italian tactician, another setback could really test their patience.

Ultimately, results haven’t matched the expectations set over the summer and that falls on both the players and the coach who have all disappointed for the most part thus far.
