Preziosi: 'Pavoletti won't move to Napoli in January, he was available in June'

Could Napoli’s problems in attack be solved by acquiring Leonardo Pavoletti?

The Azzurri have been linked with attacking reinforcements since Arkadiusz Milik went down with an ACL tear, and replacement Manolo Gabbiadini has flattered to deceive, being sent off last weekend against Crotone.

Genoa president Enrico Preziosi looks to have closed the door in the Partenopei’s face, at least for the January window.

Even more tantalizingly, the chairman confirmed that Pavoletti would have been available during the summer, something he'd mentioned before:

“Pavoletti? If an offer had been made in June or July, we’d could’ve considered selling him,” Preziosi told Radio Kiss Kiss, “but by the time we’d reached the last day of the window it was impossible to accept, both for us and the player himself”.

Regarding a move in January, or even a swap with Gabbiadini, Preziosi was adamant:

“No, he’s an important player for us. Even if we wanted to, Gabbiadini is on wages that we can’t afford, it’s impossible to consider a long-term deal”.

“I’m very happy I chose Juric, we’re a tough team for anyone, we play a modern, aggressive brand of football, and we could have won against Napoli if it wasn’t for Reina.
