Sunday’s edition of the Daily Express had confirmed that the Ligue 1 Champions had opened talks with Dimitri Payet, a former star at both Olympique de Marseille and Saint-Etienne before moving to the United Kingdom. 
 
They claimed that the Parisians had a 30 million offer ready, something which director of sport Patrick Kluivert denied yesterday.
 
“It’s not true”, he tersely told Le Parisien (via Foot01), who had asked him about the possible move.
 
A bit of a curt answer for something so important. The Parisian side has flattered to deceive in front of goal this season, Lucas Moura (5 goals) the only goalscorer barring Edinson Cavani (14) not to have banged in more than two Ligue 1 goals this season.
 
Whilst denied, the Express’ story is hardly plucked out of nowhere. This links back to the other strikers the Parisians have been connected with, from Carlos Bacca (a former pupil of Coach Unai Emery’s) to Federico Bernardeschi.
