PSG signing preferred Barca, tried to force €150m move this summer

Kylian M’Bappe wanted to move to Barcelona this summer, an intermediary has revealed, and that he preferred the Catalans to PSG, the club he eventually signed for.

Josep Maria Minguella claims that the French starlet - and scorer of a massive 26 goals in all competitions last season - was trying to push through an €150 million transfer.

Speaking to Cadena Cope, Minguella claimed that he had a conversation with M’Bappe’s father, who basically acted as his agent, a short time before the 18-year-old’s move to the Parc des Princes.

Barcelona allegedly preferred Ousmane Dembele of Borussia Dortmund.

"Mbappe said he only wanted to sign for Barcelona when he learned that Neymar was going to go to PSG," Minguella told Cadena Cope radio.

"Barca could have had him for €120m plus €30m in variables. I spoke to his father and he only wanted to join Barca -- he would have loved to play with [Lionel] Messi.

"It was very difficult to get through to [Barca president Josep Maria] Bartomeu, but I told him that Neymar was done [to PSG] and that he should sign Mbappe."
