According to French newspaper L'Équipe, Real Madrid has been in contact with Inter captain Mauro Icardi ahead of a proposed move to the Spanish capital next summer. He is viewed by many Los Blancos officials as the ideal long-term replacement for Karim Benzema, with whom the fans are becoming increasingly frustrated. The Nerazzurri are keen to tie the Argentine to a new long-term deal in which his release clause would be increased by at least €20 million.
