Real Madrid looking for defensive reinforcement: shortlist revealed

Real Madrid are looking to signing some defensive reinforcement at the end of the season as the departure of Pepe has left some serious gaps in the Merengues defensive repartment.

The likes of Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane are regarded as regular starters but Zinedine Zidane is aware that the La Liga giants need to sign one more centre-back if he wants to have a solid defensive block.

According to Don Balon, Real Madrid have already prepared a three-man shortlist to strengthen their defence: the likes of Aymeric Laporte, Otamendi and Lucas Hernandez are all being monitored by the La Liga giants who will make a big investment to sign a new centre-back at the end of the season.

Man City defender Otamendi would not be considered as a regular starter whilst the other two players in the list would battle it out with Varane for a spot in the starting XI.
