La Liga giants Real Madrid are reportedly set to announce Athletic Bilbao goalkeeper Kepa as their first winter signing, sending a good news to Manchester United with David de Gea set to stay at Old Trafford.

It is believed that Kepa will soon be a Real Madrid player and Cope reported yesterday that the Basque side are about to fail in their attempt to hand a new contract to the stopper, whose deal at the club expires after this season and the Los Blancos will snap him up for free.

Kepa doesn’t want a release clause of 75 million euros in his contract and is thus, unwilling to pen a new deal at the San Mames.

Real’s acquisition of Kepa would come as good news for Jose Mourinho’s side, who will be set to keep David de Gea for more time now.

The Spaniard nearly joined Real Madrid in the summer of 2015 but a move broke down in the late stages, forcing him to stay at Old Trafford. De Gea, who celebrated his 27th birthday yesterday, later signed a new deal at United soon after.
