Real Madrid star's father hints at Man United move

James Rodriguez’s stepfather favours a move away from Real Madrid.

Speaking on Spanish Radio, the Real Madrid superstar’s stepfather insisted that his son’s talent “should be on the football pitch”.

The 25-year-old has been linked with a big-money move to Manchester United, as has Alvaro Morata.

“I want to see my son play football,” Juan Carlos Restrepo told Spanish radio station Onda Cero.

“If it was up to me, I’d tell him to look for a club where he can play.

“I don’t think that James has been short on support at Real, I think he has the fans’ affection, but a talent like his needs to be on the football pitch”.

Restrepo has expressed this kind of opinion before, saying that he preferred James “to start in a different team than being a substitute at Real Madrid."

Rodriguez has scored eight Liga goals and provided six assists this season, despite only starting thirteen games. While the likes of Isco and Casemiro have fought their way into the first team over the last two seasons, the Colombian’s role in the depth chart is insignificant.
