Report: Gattuso can play Romagnoli in the midfield amid AC Milan crisis

AC Milan are currently in the middle of a negative period and Gennaro Gattuso is thinking of possible solutions to get out of the situation. The Rossoneri coach will also have to deal with the absences of suspended Tiemoue Bakayoko and Franck Kessie in the next Serie A matchup against Fiorentina and is thus looking for options in the midfield.

The option that Gattuso is probably more inclined to is to give a chance to some players who have not been first-team regulars this season - Jose Mauri or Andrea Bertolacci, or even the insertion of Hakan Calhanoglu in the midfield.

However, as written by Tuttosport, it would not be so risky to field Mateo Musacchio or Ignazio Abate alongside Zapata in the defence, so as to advance captain Alessio Romagnoli in the midfield in a 4-3-3 formation.

"The history of football is full of players who have played both as defenders as well as midfielders. And Romagnoli has the characteristics to play in that position," the Turin-based paper wrote.
