Revealed: Conte told Genoa execs not to sack under-fire boss

Genoa’s General Director Giorgio Perinetti talked to Il Secolo XIX to discuss the season of the Serie A side. The Grifone is stuck in the relegation zone with six points in 10 games and the future of Ivan Juric is under strict scrutiny.

“Survival is not automatic, this season will be tougher and we must be more concrete. It’s not going to be an easy task but I trust these lads. Fans are supporting us, there was a great atmosphere against Napoli.”

“We were a bit unlucky, many things didn’t work properly. For example we’ve had many injuries but our position in the table is not satisfying we need to find a solution.”

The club’s executive, however, claims Juric is not at risk of sacking and that Antonio Conte has backed him to remain in charge of Genoa.

“I talked to him [Conte] a few days ago”, Perinetti said.

“He told me to keep Juric because he is an excellent manager with some strong ideas and that the team trust him.”
