Revealed: What Messi said to Ronaldo after FIFA Awards

Lionel Messi was reportedy very sporting with Cristiano Ronaldo, admitting that the Real Madrid star deserved to win the FIFA Best Player award, even before the winner was actually announced.

According to numerous sources, it seems that the two actually get on pretty well off the pitch, with the Argentine conceding that his rival was superior, winning the Liga and Champions League with Real Madrid and the European Championship with his Portugal side.

Though the former Manchester United giant was injured for most of the 2016 European final, he was still a giant presence for his side during the tournament, despite a couple of poor games.

It sounds like Messi and Ronaldo have a reasonably civilised relationship off the court, with the 32-year-old Real Madrid striker even saying that there was no such thing as the “Messi era” ending, because the two belonged “to the same era”.

Ronaldo will hopefully do a good job of catching up with Messi this season, seeing as he only has one Liga goal to the Argentine’s eleven so far.
