Roma fans risk travel ban for the rest of the season

After some unsavoury scenes following their 2-1 defeat in Bergamo against Atalanta, Roma supporters could face a travel ban for the rest of the Serie A season.

Four stewards and a police agent were injured after flares and smoke bombs were let off outside the stadium on Sunday afternoon and the former head of the Federal Prosecutor, Mario Stagliano told Teleroma56 that; “After the episodes on Sunday and from what I understand, the Observatory will punish Roma fans by forbidding them to attend away matches for the rest of the season”.

Atalanta refused to sell tickets to any fans from the Lazio region ahead of Sunday’s game but with fan groups all over Italy, a significant number of giallorossi fans made the trip to Bergamo. This latest news, if it happens, will be another huge blow to the club from the capital who are already playing in front of a half empty Stadio Olimpico as the Ultras in the Curva Sud continue their protest at what they see as unjustified security measures in their section of the stadium.
