Roma say Chelsea target is staying, ‘Mahrez who?’

AS Roma have denied that Radja Nainggolan and Kostas Manolas are leaving, and have also denied trying to recruit Riyad Mahrez of Leicester City.

Chased by Chelsea and Manchester United, Nainggolan was rumoured to be leaving, with Inter also linked to him.

Asked by an interviewer upon landing in Rome, American owner James Pallotta answered: “Mahrez who?”.

Mahrez was reported in the last few hours as being linked to Roma, who were ready to make a 33 million bid for him. Arsenal still want to recruit him.

“Nainggolan and Manolas aren’t going anywhere,” Pallotta told Premium Sport.

“We’ve sold players in order to satisfy our Financial Fair Play problems.
“Monchi is doing a great job, we have a common strategy and we’re discussing everything together.”

Roma have already sold the likes of Antonio Rudiger to Chelsea, as well as Mo Salah to Liverpool.

Manolas was close to joining Zenit Saint Petersburg, but the whole deal was called off at the last minute.
