According to Sky Sports reports, Schalke 04 have blocked the departure of their key defender. At least for the moment, Roma will not be able to count on Matija Nastasic to replace Antonio Rudiger. According to Roma’s sporting director Monchi, Nastasic had the appropriate profile to complete the back line of Di Francesco’s team. Roma had proposed a figure close to 12 million EUR for the former Fiorentina player, an evaluation that for now does not get the approval of the German club. Schalke, on the other hand, ask for at least 3 million more and has decided to stop the negotiations with Roma.

Nastasic is tied to Schalke 04 until June 2019 and Monchi will probably have to relaunch his entire approach for the player or begin to search for alternative route to his destination. The departure of Rudiger opened up some spending availability for the Roma director, but he will want to spend wisely to reinvest while keeping or raising the quality of the squad.
