Roma target Man City outcast as an alternative to Mahrez

Reports in Italian daily Corriere della Sera claim that Roma are lining up French midfielder Samir Nasri as an alternative to Algerian ace Riyad Mahrez. The Giallorossi’s quest for the 26-year-old looks to have run into trouble with Leicester City adamant that their player will cost €40M. Roma sporting director Monchi is understood to be prepared to go up to €30M but this offer seems unlikely to be accepted by the 2016 Premier League champions.

With this in mind, the club from the Eternal City are weighing up their alternatives and the 30-year-old Nasri, who spent last season on-loan at Sevilla from Manchester City, seems to fit the bill. City boss Pep Guardiola sees no future for the player at The Etihad Stadium and is open to offers.

Monchi, whose previous role was at Sevilla, is understood to be ready to make one last attempt for Mahrez before admitting defeat and turning his attention to the Frenchman.
