Roma’s Sporting Director Walter Sabatini answered media questions while attending a book launch in Rome. The 60-year-old released statements concerning the club’s seasonal targets, players and transfer rumors.

“I don’t think we’ll only battle it out with Inter and Napoli. Fiorentina are credible title contenders and Juventus will be back in the Scudetto race very soon, I am sure about it.”

Roma had an addition to their injury list as Mohammed Salah was ruled for 4-6 weeks with a Grade II ligament damage to his right ankle. Francesco Totti and Kevin Strootman are also out of action for the next games.

“Mohammed Salah’s injury will affect us a lot, even if we have full confidence on Juan Manuel Iturbe and Iago Falque’s qualities.”

“Francesco Totti will be always useful to us. I confirm that he will decide whether to extend his contract with the club or not.  He’s enjoying the victories of his teammates but he might feel a bit marginalized right now.”

“We are also waiting for Kevin Strootman’s comeback. He’s looking at the future with different eyes. He feels that he took the right path and he can make the difference even playing at the 60% of his form.”

“Leandro Castan is also recovering, we have lot of expectations on him, while Antonio Rudiger is an amazing defender, you have to trust me. If not, at least trust [Germany head coach] Joachim Loew.

Roma made eight new signings during the  summer transfer window and the Sporting Director confirmed that the club won't buy any more players in January.

“Mehdi Benatia is playing for Bayern Munich and he won’t rejoin us. I’d like to make Szczesny ‘s stay permanent, but it won’t be easy as Wenger thinks extremely high of him.”
