Roma want £12m Liverpool defender

Roma have sent feelers to Liverpool about Alberto Moreno, the Corriere dello Sport confirm (via the Liverpool Echo).

The full-back has been a disappointment at Liverpool this season, and is particularly poor in the defensive phase.

Roma have, in actual fact, asked the Anfield side to name their price for the 24-year-old, as they need full-backs and are currently being accused by fans of dumping too many players, including Kostas Manolas, Antonio Rudiger and Mohamed Salah.

The Spaniard is set to leave Anfield as James Milner is the starter there, and has been for most of the campaign.

Roma’s incumbent left-back, Mario Rui, is the subject of a number of offers, the main one coming from Napoli. This could leave the Giallorossi short, explaining new sporting director Monchi’s interest.

There’s more: Monchi built a reputation in Seville as the finder of cheap bargains, or at least of undervalued players, and Moreno’s stock is certainly low right now.

He was still good enough to be acquired for £12 million back in 2014.
