ROMANO EXCLUSIVE Napoli are offering Insigne too little in contract talks

Napoli are undergoing the process of renewing all their key players, but there’s a big roadblock in one particular case.

Elsei Hysaj, Kalidou Koulibaly and Raul Albiol have all signed, but it may take something more to get Lorenzo Insigne.

The reason is simple: while Napoli are offering 2.5 million a year, Insigne wants 4m, plus performance-related bonuses.

Then again, Insigne isn’t playing on the same level as last year, with Dries Mertens running him very close indeed and earning a timeshare on the left.

Image rights are another obstacle for Insigne, who also received a call from Inter Milan this summer.

What was behind that? Simple: while Napoli were contacting Mauro Icardi without Inter’s permission, the Nerazzurri thought of getting some revenge by making a call to Insigne.

Thing is, Lorenzo il Magnifico isn’t a priority at Inter, simply because they have loads of options on the wing. But the pressure has certainly been used as leverage by Insigne’s agents.
