Gonzalo Higuain is only the second player to reach 100 goals in two of the top-5 European leagues in the last 20 years. However, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, he is currently in Italy because Cristiano Ronaldo wanted him out of Real Madrid.

Four years ago, despite the Argentinian having scored 107 goals in 190 games, Ronaldo went to Madrid executive Florentino Perez and demanded he be sent packing. His compliant? That Higuain “never passes the ball.”

With Napoli in need of a striker after Edinson Cavani’s move to Paris Saint-Germain, a deal was quickly finalized and Higuain was on his way to the São Paolo. Under the tutelage of Rafa Benitez, Higuain continued his stellar play, finding the net 71 times in 104 matches.

Now, after having notched his 100th and 101st goals for Juventus, Higuain has reasserted his status as one of the great strikers in Europe.
