Ronaldo-Messi: a new age is starting

  • Mirko Laurenti
Ronaldo-Messi era is over, at least for this year. Tomorrow the Ballon d'Or will be awarded and surprises are unexpected, since both the Portuguese and the Argentine will be out of the top three. It is since 2008 that Ronaldo and Messi share the trophy: except them two, no one else has managed to win it. Someone tried, but in vain.

The last “common plater” to raise the Ballon d’Or was Ricardo Kaka in 2007, when he brought Milan on the top of Europe. Then no one else.

At least, until tomorrow since the bookmakers give Luka Modric as the new best player in the world. From a Milan legend to a missed Nerazzurro. But if there had not been Ronaldo and Messi, in those years several players would have won Balòn d’Or.

From Fernando Torres to Wesley Snejider, from Andrès Iniesta to Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Tomorrow, probably, Modric will rewrite history.
