Salvini backtracks: 'I respect Gattuso, he is the best AC Milan can have'

Yesterday after AC Milan's draw against Lazio, Vice-Prime Minister and Milan fan Matteo Salvini responded to the last-gasp equalizer coming from Correa with accusations towards coach Gattuso regarding the lack of substitutions made, to which the Rossoneri manager responded in a post-match interview, claiming that Salvini should 'focus on politics'.

This morning, however, Salvini came with a counter-reply and backtracked from his statements.

"Gattuso is the best coach that Milan can have and I spoke as a fan. Let's say that with some changes there could have been a different ending. I have immense respect for Gattuso as a player and coach. When yesterday the Lazio coach made three changes when they were 0-1 down and we did not make a single one, I spoke as a fan," he said.

"He is a coach but I am a minister and a Milan fans. I would have made two changes, but he is still a great coach. I'll call him today and we will clarify as the two Milanisti we are," Salvini added.
