Semedo to become Barcelona’s most expensive defender as real figures behind move revealed

Barcelona have just completed the signing of Nelson Semedo, a talented full-back who is expected to fill the boots of Dani Alves who left the Camp Nou to join Juventus last summer. The Brazilian, however, has already left the J Stadium to join Psg.

Semedo, 23, has joined Barcelona for a reported transfer fee of € 30.5 million. Benfica have confirmed the player’s transfer fee but according to Fox Sport, the player’s real fee could further raise due to bonuses that have been included in the deal.

Semedo’s Barcelona move could cost the La Liga giants up to € 55 million and that would make the Portuguese star the blaugrana’s most expensive defender ever.
Semedo, at the moment, is the second most expensive defender in the history of Barcelona.

Dani Alves is currently Barcelona’s most expensive signing at the back with the Brazilian who joined Barcelona in 2008 for € 35 million, whilst Samuel Umtiti is the third most expensive defender signed by Barcelona with a reported transfer fee of € 25 million.
