Serie A ended last week end with Juventus lifting their fifth successive title, Gonzalo Higuain breaking Gunnar Nordahl’s 35 goals record and AS Roma reaching a Champions League placement. Fiorentina, Inter and Sassuolo snatched a Europa League spot, whilst Carpi, Frosinone and Hellas Verona faced relegation.
At we want our readers to tell us the Serie A team of the year. Today we start with goalkeepers: vote on our survey here: BEST GOALKEEPER OF THE YEAR
GIANLUIGI BUFFON – He registered the new Serie A clean-sheet record, not conceding for 978 successive minutes. Juventus have only allowed 20 goals (3 conceded by Neto) and kept 22 clean sheets. Legend.
GIANLUIGI DONNARUMMA – The youngest goalkeeper to make Serie A debut as well as the youngest Italy U-21 debutant. He replaced experienced Diego Lopez after a handful of matches and is definitely the only good news for AC Milan this season.
SAMIR HANDANOVIC – An extrordinary start to the season had helped Inter to claim the Serie A ledership at the beginning of the campaign. He was one of the few players to play a decent girone di ritorno registering 15 clean sheets through the campaign. He could leave the club at the end of the season.
PEPE REINA – Not only an amazing goalkeeper, but also a true leader. Napoli are one of the teams that have allowed the fewest shots on target to this season and Reina has always proved to be ready to deny his opponents. Hi most brilliant game was probably the San Paolo clash against Inter.
MARCO SPORTIELLO – He has proved himself as one of the best goalkeepers in Serie A, once again. Napoli have an option to sign the Atalanta ace in the future, though Inter, AS Roma and Juve are also interested in signing him. Destined to greatness
