Serie B silliness: 10 points separate new first and final place teams

  • Matthew Klimberg
The most exciting football league in Europe continues to raise the stakes. After a slew of matches on Saturday, the 22-team league Serie B is back to a 10-point difference from top to bottom.

New leaders Frosinone sit on 23 points while new cellar-dweller Cesena sit on 13.

Seven teams sit three points or less from Frosinone; all of whom are eligible for either promotion or the six-team promotion playoff.

Foggia, at 17 points, is tied with three other teams for the 18th place, just one point from relegation-playoff safety.

Though there is only one match on Sunday, the Italian second division could have another leader at the top, as Empoli, with 20 points, takes on Spezia, who are level with Foggia for the last relegation-playoff spot.

With four teams still yet to play this weekend, 18 have already switched places in the standings.

Once again, if you're not paying attention to Serie B, start right now.
