Silvio Berlusconi: "Tavecchio should resign, Ancelotti right man for Italy"

AC Milan's former owner and President, Silvio Berlusconi, was interviewed by RAI 1 regarding the sacking of Gian Piero Ventura following the Italian national team's failure to qualify for the World Cup for the first time since 1958.

Regarding who he thinks should replace Ventura as manager of the Azurri, Berlusconi was very clear stating that: "If Ancelotti should be the new Coach, considering the way I know him, he’d be the right man."

Berlusconi was then asked about the future of the President of the Italian FA, Carlo Tavecchio saying that: "At the very least he should have left, I would have preferred if he had resigned. Tavecchio was elected democratically and he did well in many sectors, so let us leave it to him to decide what to do. This is a moment when Italian football is not in good shape. Some people say that too many foreigners play in the Serie A but they have more foreign players in England, Germany and France. Unless you are the coach you cannot say what went wrong. I think it was not only a painful event, but also a serious blow to our country. The fact Italy aren’t at the tournament in Russia is very disappointing. Now we must get back on track, and find a coach who has won things in the past."
