Famous soccer journalists spar on Twitter

On Friday, leading soccer journalists for Sports Illustrated and ESPN were involved in a heated exchange on Twitter.

In the wake of the Harvey Weinstein allegations, and multitude of sexual harassment reports that are coming to light across the world, Sports Illustrated’s Grant Wahl offered abuse victims in the soccer world an opportunity to speak about their experiences privately, via direct messages.

On Friday he retweeted his original tweet, with the comment, “Getting several initial responses. My DM’s remain open.” With that, ESPN’s James Tyler expressed concern about the way Mr. Wahl was attempting to help abuse victims.
