Southampton tell Liverpool to pay 75 million for their Dutch international

What seemed like a straight forward transfer is getting messier by the day with reports in the Liverpool Echo now claiming that Southampton have once again upped their asking price for Dutch defender Virgil van Dijk.

After Tuesday’s news that the Saints were to report Liverpool to the Premier League for making an illegal move for the 25-year-old, comes reports this morning that the south-coast club have turned up the tension by adding a further £15M to his price tag.
It’s believed that this is in reaction to yesterday’s events which looks to have soured the relationship between the two clubs.

Southampton chairman Ralph Krueger has been keen to stress that he does not have to sell his best players anymore to balance the books but a deal what was originally thought to be £50M, has now increased significantly as the Saints test the Merseyside club’s patience.

The player himself is thought to be desperate for a move to Anfield and it now looks like it could be a case of how much Jurgen Klopp is prepared to pay for him.
