Spurs beat Liverpool to race of German international

Tottenham Hotspur have beaten Liverpool in the race to sign Schalke midfielder Max Meyer in a fee worth £17m, according to Football.London.

The German international is being currently being chased by a number of clubs, with Premier League sides Spurs and Liverpool interest. Another party keen on the players’ services are Bundesliga side Hoffenhiem.

The 21-year-old playmaker played at the under-21 European Championships in Poland, where his side were eventual winners of the tournament.
Meyer, it is thought, is not looking to extend with contract with club, which only has 12 months left to run, leaving a number of clubs taking an interest.

He has made appearances for his country at senior level, and even as an Olympic winner’s medal to show for it. He has since formed a line of interested parties, but now it seems that fellow countryman Reds boss Jürgen Klopp is going to be the one to get the player to join up.
