Spurs cool off Madrid star interest after price tag

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for Real Madrid’s James Rodriguez but won’t go near the La Liga side’s asking price, HITC reports.

The north-London club are reportedly keen on the 25-year-old, with rivals Arsenal and Liverpool also in the hunt for the Colombian international.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has been dealt blows before when it comes to high-priced signings – with Moussa Sissoko coming from Newcastle United for £30m last year but unable to impress manager Mauricio Pochettino - but there is no denying that attacking player Rodriguez would be the perfect suit for Spurs, as they look to launch a firm title bid next season.

The Madrid man scored a tally of 11 goals and made a sizeable 13 assists last season in 33 games for the Spanish giants. The asking price of £66m, though, has reportedly put chairman Devy off making the move for the former Porto and Monaco man.
