Spurs have 'strong interest' in Monaco defender

Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Monaco defender Kamil Glik, according to Toronews.

The Polish international enjoyed a successful season with Monaco last year, winning the Ligue 1 title, reaching the French Cup final and getting to the Champions League semi-final.

The 29-year-old, who also holds a dual nationality with Germany, was in fact a stand out performer when his side faced Juventus in the Champions League last season, giving their star forward Gonzalo Higuaín a real run for his money.

He was a solid part of Monaco’s winning team last season, despite most of the attention being paid to players Tiemoue Bakayoko, Bernardo Silva – who has since joined Premier League club Manchester City, Thomas Lemar and teenage sensation Kylian Mbappe.

Tottenham are notable this window as they don’t have an area they need to strengthen – apart from the potential sale of Kyle Walker to Man City looming. A purchase for Glik, though, would surely create some more competition within the side.
