Spurs target: I could have left Milan this summer

Suso claims he could have left in the summer, but said that he remained at Milan because he was “happy” there.

The former Liverpool flop was rumoured to be wanted by Tottenham and, after a blockbuster season with AC Milan, available for €50 million.

Yet the deal fell through, something which Suso may be hinting at as he spoke to Sky Italia.

“As I’ve always said, I’m very happy with the club. I could have left, but I stayed and I’m very happy. There is a release clause, I think that if I had wanted to leave I wouldn’t have renewed my deal: maybe I could have waited a little and left for a low price.”

These suggestive remarks say a lot about Suso’s start of the season: the scorer of five goals and provider of three assists, the former Liverpool trainee has also found himself being shoved into the lineup as a second striker, something which hasn’t gone down well with fans.

The 21-year-old has still managed five goals in the league, and three Serie A assists, too.
