Spurs to challenge Roma for Algerian ace

According to reports from the UK today, Tottenham Hotspur are ready to challenge Roma for the signature of Leicester City play-maker Riyad Mahrez. The 26-year-old has told Foxes boss Craig Shakespeare that he wants to leave the club this summer and the Italian side has already made enquiries as to his availability.

Leicester have slapped a £50M price-tag on their star winger with Roma understood to be only ready to go up to around £27M (that has also been rejected) to try to get their man. According to The Evening Standard, Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is also anxious to be kept informed of the situation although it’s believed that the North London side are also not prepared to pay the current asking price.

Mahrez was one of the key players in Leicester’s historic Premier League title victory in 2016 but since then, a loss of form and a desire to leave the King Power Stadium has received criticism from some of the fans.
