Starlets snubs Man City to sign new Real Madrid contract

Real Madrid starlet Oscar Rodriguez, 19, has snubbed a move to Manchester City to sign a contract extension with the Champions League and La Liga champions, Marca reports.

The 19-year-old is one of the most promising products of Real Madrid academy and despite the interest of many top European clubs, he has committed his future to Real Madrid signing a new four-year deal.

Manchester City and Barcelona were reportedly interested in signing the promising midfielder who will play with Real Madrid’s ‘Castilla’ next season. The Citizens tried to lure him from the Santiago Bernabeu, but the player has decided to sign a new contract with his childood club.

Rodriguez shined with Real Madrid U19 team last season scoring one goal and registering two assists in 18 appearances in the UEFA Youth League.

The contract extension of Oscar Rodriguez confirms Real Madrid’s new policy regarding their youth players. The likes of Marco Asensio, Alvaro Morata and Lucas Vazquez, just two name a few, are all academy graduates and have managed to make it into Real Madrid’ senior team after thriving in the club’s youth sector.
