Cuts at Milan: Pirlo moves away

No special treatment in view of renewals. The director does not accept the downsizing: tension with the club.
Milan wants to cut the salary, nine in expiry, Pirlo moves further away.
From January 31 there is a Milan at zero cost. Who ever wants to grab their object of desire does not even have to agree with Adriano Galliani. Just give the player’s a decent salary; since it is due to expire. There are nine, four midfielders, a goalkeeper, three defenders and a striker. A low cost market and in plain sight set with former world champions and even people still in the national team. The striker is  Andrea Pirlo, aged 32 and with a salary of nearly seven million euro. Then there's Nesta, which has so far has earned 4.5 million per season and the captain Ambrosini, who for the love of his team has agreed to earn 2.8. That's why he will most likely remain.

They call them the old guard although none of them, are less than 32 years old. Milan wants to keep them (with some exceptions), but on terms different from those of the past. The clubs policy, in fact, requires a cut in salary. The law should be equal for all and thus Galliani has made an appointment with the group in the spring. The agents who have tried to request a meeting to inform him about other proposals were rejected. AC Milan will negotiate, but on their own terms and does not accept blackmail, at the cost of losing it’s players. Even the new arrivals, like Legrottaglie and Van Bommel will have to renegotiate their agreement. To play in AC Milan they have agreed to sign a contract for only five months. Their future will depend on how functional they are and what Massimiliano Allegri decides. He is the real head-cutter; having killed off Ronaldinho he is ready to repeat it with Seedorf. His salary is heavy and is no longer in line with performance. The Dutchman, in fact, is now a second choice, behind Robinho and Boateng. The latter happens to be in free co-ownership with Genoa and if there are no physical problems will be bought.

It is not a question of lack of gratitude but the need to reduce costs and to have balanced books. The idea of a Milan without Pirlo, Inzaghi and Nesta would sadden Milan fans but not those like Marina Berlusconi how asked for and obtained a more healthy balance. Players "expired" are absolutely not happy with this situation, but they know what they are facing: a cut in salary or a farewell. Pirlo is the angriest, but also the one who might have more demands on the market. Two years ago he was almost sold to Chelsea, then Berlusconi got in the middle. Real Madrid has always had a soft spot for him, but if they decide to take him it will be done out in the open. Florentino Perez, as a matter of loyalty, will speak first with Galliani.
