Tonelli has chosen: he will go to Napoli
Fiorentina were close to his capture last summer, but Empoli Sporting Director Carli was not prepared to let him go. La Viola backed down, but they continued to monitor his development with interest. But now it’s Napoli who are in pole position and the vesuviani are looking to close the deal sooner rather than later.
Sporting Director Giuntoli has already been given the thumbs-up by the 26-year-old, who now looks set to re-join his former mentor Sarri at the San Paolo. Napoli has placed an offer on the table of around €8-9 million, Empoli are holding out for more but it seems this will not present a problem to the southern club.
Carli has always stated that Tonelli would be able to choose his next destination at the end of the season; now he has chosen, so expect to see him in the colours of Napoli next season.
