2016 is just around the corner and it is time to review and rank the top 6 Serie A teams after the opening 17 games of the campaign.

NAPOLI – They are the side that have improved the most compared to last season, especially under the defensive point of view. Thanks to Maurizio Sarri’s tactical knowledge some key players have
improved their performances and Napoli seems the team with the strongest identity right now.
     7.5 out of 10
    BEST PLAYER: GONZALO HIUGIAN

JUVENTUS – Massimiliano Allegri deserves plenty of credit for the Old Lady’s reborn after a terrible start to the season. He has always been determined in defending his tactical belief and his role has been crucial to drug the club out of the crisis. He has worked more on players’ mentality, rather than on their technical skills and the Bianconeri manager is now reaping the rewards of his work.
    7.5 out of 10
    BEST PLAYER: MARIO MANDZUKIC

INTER – The Serie A table leaders are always surrounded by too many criticisms, which is something that I genuinely don’t understand. The team has been built only a few months ago and even if they are still trying to discover their identity, they have shown impressive strength and personality. The target for the second part of the campaign will be to improve their style of play as well as following a clear tactical direction.

    BEST PLAYER: STEVAN JOVETIC

FIORENTINA – They have the best style of play in Serie A alongside Napoli. Paulo Sousa had the chance to work on the solid basis built by Vincenzo Montella over the last few seasons. Even if sometimes their ball possession is a bit exaggerated, Paulo Sousa has gave the team a more vertical approach. Such an equilibrate league allows La Viola to pursuit their Scudetto dream.
    7 out of 10
    BEST PLAYER: NIKOLA KALINIC

ROMA – They are potentially the best team of the league, though they are going through highs and lows which are really difficult to understand. The team’s spirit and unity that players showed during the last game against Genoa were very important, but they need to be more consistent and solve their tactical woes if they want to be involved in the title race until the end.
    6.5 out of 10
    BEST PLAYER: ALESSANDRO FLORENZI

MILAN -  Another team that despite criticisms and rumors are proving to be more united than what it would appear from outside. Most of Milan players are really young so they have an enormous potential to improve in the future and I expect them to secure positive results in 2016.
    6 out of 10
    BEST PLAYER: GIACOMO BONAVENTURA

Empoli and Sassuolo deserve special mansion not only for their impressive results but also because they have been the clubs that deployed the most Italian players in the first 17 games of the league.

Marco Giampaolo has proved to be one of the most prepared managers in Serie A, while I reckon that Eusebio Di Francesco is now ready to take over any big Italian club.

BEST PROSPECT: Federico Bernardeschi (Fiorentina): He can combine astonishing technical skills with impressive running endurance.
