REVEALED! Top 6 Serie A signings

    • Pierpaolo Marino (tranlated by Lorenzo Bettoni)
Looking back at the previous 15 games, former Atalanta and Napoli Sporting Director Pierpaolo Marino reveals the six best Serie A signings (at least for now).

6 – Marten de Roon (Atalanta) Former Harenveen midfielder is both able to protect defense as well as passing the ball with extreme accuracy.  His position in front of the defensive line allowed Edy Reja to have the right balance between attack and defense. He has amazing technical skills and when I met him last year I had the impression that he is a true professional as well as a very serious person. He joined La Dea for roughly € 1 million and I guess that Atalanta could realize a huge capital gain in case they’ll decide to sell him in the future.

5 – Daniele Baselli (Torino) Milan should have signed him instead! Baselli has been a terrific signing for Torino. Ventura is playing him in the right position and he is reaping the rewards of his work as he netted four goals in 14 Serie A since he joined the Granata on a € 4.5 million deal from Atalanta.

4 – Jeison Murillo (Inter) The product of the Deportivo Cali Academy is blazing a trail at Inter after joining the San Siro side on a € 8 million deal from Granada. He is an aggressive centre back who is learning a lot from playing close to an experienced full-back such as former Atletico Madrid mainstay Miranda.

3 – Paulo Dybala (Juventus) At the beginning of the season Juventus’ CEO Giuseppe Marotta was harshly criticized for having invested what appeared to be an exaggerate amount of money on such a young player. The former Palermo star justified his € 40 million price tag netting seven goals in 14 Serie A games, showing that he has enough personality to become the next Old Lady’s star, not to mention his improvement potentials.

2 – Joao Miranda (Inter) He is probably Inter’s main signing of the summer. It was nothing easy to sign him from Atletico Madrid as Chelsea were also strongly interested in the player, but thanks to the work of the wise middleman Giovanni Branchini, Roberto Mancini got the better of José Mourinho. Miranda is not only a great player and an amazing defender. He has also a huge personality that makes him one of the mainstays of the team and the true leader of Inter’s defensive line.

1 – Nikola Kalinic (Fiorentina) Paulo Sousa and Daniele Pradé’s intuition seemed to have paid off as the Croatia International joined the Artemio Franchi on a € 8 million deal from Dnipro last summer but he could be worth at least three times more now. Kalinic plundered nine goals in 14 Serie A games and at the beginning of the season someone thought that he would have been Khouma Babacar’s backup in Tuscany. I’m afraid they were wrong. Kalinic is a terrific striker, a complete hit-man, not only a classic, static centre forward.
