Totti takes stand defending women's rights, safety

On International Day Against Violence Against Women, AS Roma legend Francesco Totti voiced his support for the plight of millions of women across the world who suffer at the hands of abusers. Totti agreed to host an event commemorating the memory of Sara di Pietrantonio, a 22-year-old, who was killed by her ex-boyfriend last year.

“I want to thank the family and the authorities for this wonderful day,” said the eternal captain of the Giallorossi. “In the hope that there are no more episodes of violence on women. They are absurd, surreal episodes. We need to help both women and men, we are all equal and we all have to go all the same.”

He continued, “We will do our utmost to force things to change. Life is special and you have to enjoy it all the way. The wish is that, today, we can inspire change. My appeal is to be heard. You have to be able to change the mentality of these people.”
