Transfer News: AC Milan and Inter set to duel for out of contract Atletico superstar

Diego Godin wants to move to Serie A. The Uruguayan defender has not yet accepted the proposal for a contract renewal from Atletico and is one of the most attractive potential free agents in Europe. His agent has been offering him in Italy for weeks, first to Juventus, then at AC Milan and now Inter, too.

As reported by Corriere dello Sport, Giuseppe Marotta was interested in the defender last summer, before opting for the return of Leonardo Bonucci. Piero Ausilio, Marotta's right arm on the market, has long been a fan of the player and thinks Godin is the right man to replace Miranda at Inter.

And Milan? Leonardo and Maldini are thinking carefully about the possibility of signing the player on a free transfer. The two directors spoke about it recently with the new CEO Ivan Gazidis and above all with Godin's sister, Lucia, who takes care of the interests of the Atletico captain.

Several meetings have already been held at Casa Milan and the Rossoneri are very interested. Godin, who currently earns 4.5 million euros net per ear, for his part, wants to continue playing in the Champions League and above all, he is in a hurry to know what his new club will be.
