Transfer news: Wolves set to swoop for underperforming Lazio defender

According to what has been reported by La Repubblica today, Wolverhampton Wanderers have been linked with a move for disappointing Lazio defender Wallace - through the Premier League club's connections to the playeur's agent - Jorge Mendes.

Mendes orchestrated Wallace's move to Rome in the first place but, after several seasons and a very poor collection of performances, his time in the Italian capital could be up. Wallace joined Lazio from Monaco and a lot of hope in the air was present, with the Brazilian looking to be one of the next best things. However, failing to grow and mature as a centre-back has cost Wallace dearly and, aside from a stellar performance against Juventus in the second game of the season, the Brazilian has been nothing but disappointing and many Lazio fans would love to see him gone as soon as possible.

Laziale wish to see their club part not only with Wallace but also Angolan defender Bastos, who Wolves were also linked to in the summer just gone. However, Wolves failed to act on their interest and the defender remained in Rome.
