Two doctors investigated in the case of Astori's death

Today the public prosecutor of Florence sent two notices of guarantee for the death of Davide Astori, who died on March 4, 2018, in the training camp before Fiorentina's match against Udinese.

Two doctors from hospitals in Florence and Cagliari are investigated on charges of culpable homicide. According to La Nazione, the presence of ventricular extrasystoles was highlighted already in July 2016 and in the same month the following year. In the report of 2017, an ultrasound was underlined with two morphologies, an indication that the heart's electrical unit did not work as it should have.

The sending of the notices marks a turning point in the investigations. For months it has been said that Davide's heart had slowed his beating (bradyarrhythmia), to the point of interrupting it and therefore the 31-year-old died in his sleep.

According to what was reported in June by Corriere della Sera, the report spoke of "tachyarrhythmia" and a sudden acceleration of beats, with the heart beating faster and faster until it stopped.

The reconstruction of the experts established that that night Astori would have woken up and maybe he would have saved himself if he had shared the room with someone ready to sound the alarm.
