Things started really well for Napoli when Lorenzo Insigne hooked up with Dries Mertens to give them the lead but after full-back Ghoulam came off injured midway through the first hald Manchester City took control of proceedings and never looked back. Napoli really needed the three points and despite Jorginho's equalizer from the penalty spot after John Stones gave City the lead early in the second half, it was only ever a matter of time before Guardiola's men took the lead again.
