According to The Mirror this weekend, Valencia have emerged as shock front-runners to sign Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera. The Spanish side are said to be ready to fight off competition from Barcelona to try to land the 27-year-old who was voted the fans player of the season.
 

Valencia chief Peter Lim is understood to be ready to loosen the purse strings at the Mestalla this summer after a woeful campaign last term and is reportedly prepared to table a £30M bid for the Spanish international who has had his best season at Old Trafford since arriving in 2014 from Athletic Bilbao.
 

It’s thought that United have rejected the club’s initial offer but with Herrera having just 12 months left on his contract, the Red Devils may still be tempted to try to cash-in on one of their most consistent performers.
 

The Sun however, writes that United bosses are ready to offer the player a new four-year contract and at the same time, double his current salary to £180,000-a-week.
